The Trip Planner allows you to create, organize, and optimize your prepared trips through a dedicated interface with a shared view between your unplanned transport order pool and your trips in preparation.
Why use this feature?
Save time: Create and modify multiple trips simultaneously using drag-and-drop: between the order pool and trips but also between two different trips.
Optimize your resources: View up to 30 trips with their performance indicators to make the best decisions
Monitor your trips: Set up custom alerts on your indicators to quickly identify trips that require special attention
Feature currently available only for beta testers.

⚙️ Understanding the Interface
The Trip Scheduler consists of two panels:
On the left: Your order pool
The pool displays all your unscheduled orders that have not yet been added to a trip or assigned to a resource.
There you will find all the features of the scheduler's pool (search, filters, group by...) as well as your saved views of the latter.
On the right: Your trips
Displays all your prepared trips with their detailed activities and performance indicators. A date filter (D-1 to D+1) is automatically applied to the trips.
You can use the filters to adjust the trip view.
🚛 How to create a new trip?
In the order pool, select one or more orders (check the boxes)
Click on the Create a trip button that appears
The trip page appears, where you can name and reorganize the activities as you wish.
Your trip automatically appears in the right panel of the trip planner
⚠️ You must select at least 1 transport to create a trip.
🔄 How to modify my trips?
1 - Add a transport from the pool to a trip:
In the pool, click on a transport
Hold the mouse and drag it to the target trip
Drop the transport:
On the trip header → activities are added at the end
Between two activities → the position is retained
The trip and its indicators are automatically updated
2 - Reorganize activities in a trip
You can reorganize activities within a trip directly on the trip planner or by opening the trip page. Any unauthorized movement will be notified (e.g., delivery before loading). Manual reorganization overrides automatic optimization and updates the KPIs.
3 - Move a transport between trips
It is now possible to move an activity between two trips directly from the trip planner by drag and drop.
⚠️ Limitation: For transport with a completed or in-progress activity, you cannot move it by drag and drop. You must first create a Break.
4 - Remove a transport from a trip
Select the activity (not started) to remove
Drag it to the order pool or to another trip
👍 You can also use the classic method from the trip page (click Delete button).
🆕 New Feature:
You can open two tabs of the Trip planner and perform drag-and-drop between two Dashdoc windows!
This feature is available only between two Trip planner windows.
🔧 How to customize the Trip planner display?
1 - Display Options
Create custom views of the Trip planner by clicking on the gear icon > Display Options.
In the Display Options panel, configure:
Display type: in rows or columns
KPI to display: select the performance indicators you want to see per trip
Alert thresholds: set alerts on the KPIs (see Alerts section)
Activity cards: choose the information visible per activity
Give your view a name and click save.
Good to know 💡
You can create as many views as needed.
Your display settings are saved per user.
2 - Compact or Detailed View
Switch between compact and detailed mode to adjust the display:
Compact Mode: View many trips simultaneously (activity details hidden, but key information accessible: name, means, KPI, dates)
Detailed Mode: Display all details of each activity
3 - Organize My Trips
Use sorting criteria to reorganize the order of your trips on the planner.
It is also possible to customize the order by moving the trips yourself. Click and hold on the 6 dots that appear next to the trip name and drag the trip to the desired location.
📊 Control your Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
The Trip Planner offers numerous KPIs to track the performance of your trips.
Select the indicators you wish to display on your trips in the Display Options.
🔔 Set up alerts for your indicators
Create an alert
Open the Display Options (gear icon)
Go to the Performance Indicators section
Hover over an indicator → the Set Alert link appears
Click on Set Alert
Activate the alert
Select a threshold type (>, >=, <, <=, =)
Enter the threshold value (with the appropriate unit when available: kg, km, hours)
Click on Apply
Save the view to retain your alert configurations
⚠️ Note: For duration thresholds, enter values in hours (e.g., 6.5 for 6h30).
When a KPI reaches or exceeds the configured threshold, the indicator on the trip card appears in red on a red background. Hover over the alerted indicator to see the configured threshold (e.g., "Maximum cumulative weight ≥ 40,000 kg").
⚠️ Warning, you can only manage one alert threshold per indicator.
Temporarily Disable an Alert
Each alert has a button that allows you to temporarily disable it without losing the configuration (operator and value). Open the alert's configuration panel and disable it with the button.
🗓️ How to Schedule My Trip?
You can schedule your trip directly on the trip window by clicking on the Means. Hover over the trip header > See details.
💸 How is the cost of my trip calculated? (beta version)
With the trip planner feature, Dashdoc calculates the estimated cost of a trip based on two main components:
Fuel consumption: Calculated based on the route and the fuel consumption rate configured for your vehicle.
Toll costs: Calculated along the route and automatically adapted to your vehicle's specifications: Euro emission class, vehicle dimensions (height, width, length), vehicle weight, and number of axles.
⚠️ Important: This is only an estimate. The cost is not updated with actual execution data during or after the trip.
⚙️ Configure Routing Settings for Cost Estimation
To enable trip cost estimation, you must first configure your Route & Optimization settings.
Access Settings > Routing and Optimization
Enter your vehicle information:
Euro emission class
Vehicle characteristics (height, length, and weight)
Fuel consumption
Fuel price
Click on Save
Once configured, these settings will be used to calculate fuel consumption and toll costs for all trips.
⚠️ If you have not configured the route settings, your trips will not display the cost estimate.
