Our teams are working to make available to you the new carbon footprint calculation method based on the European ISO 14083 standard, which is becoming the reference standard for carbon footprint calculations.

The ISO calculation method has been activated for some of our users, and will be activated for all in the near future.

Why is it necessary to know the amount of CO2 emissions from my transport operation?

Since 2015 it is a legal obligation to provide your customers with information on the amount of greenhouse gas emissions.

  • Article L1431-3 of the french code of transports

"Any person who markets or organises a passenger, freight or moving service must provide the beneficiary of the service with information on the quantity of greenhouse gases emitted by the mode(s) of transport used to carry out the service."

Dashdoc allows you to know the amount of CO2 emission in each of your transport operations and to display it for you and your customers.

In order for us to calculate this CO2 emission for you, we need to know certain information about the vehicle you use for your transport operations, such as

  • the Permitted Total Rolling Weight (P.T.R.W.)

  • the type of fuel used

Where and how do I enter this information about my vehicle into Dashdoc?

  1. I go to "my space" dedicated to "my vehicle fleet".

  2. I select "my vehicle".

  3. I click "update".

  4. I select my fuel type from the 4 possible choices:

    • Diesel

    • Liquified Natural Gas (LNG)

    • Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)

    • Electric

  5. I enter the value of my vehicle's Permitted Total Rolling Weight in the appropriate box.

I don't have an indication of the amount of CO2 emissions on my transport?

  1. Check that I have assigned a vehicle to "my transport".

  2. Verify that the information of Gross combination weight and fuel type are well registered in "my vehicle".

  3. In case of transport with a split, or change of vehicle, check steps 1 and 2 for each vehicle involved in the operation.

  4. If my vehicle is electric, it is not yet taken into account in the calculation of CO2 emissions.

I have telematics connected to Dashdoc

According to the telematics connected to Dashdoc, the calculation of GHG emissions is done at a level of detail qualified as level 4, i.e. a real calculation.

How can I obtain the carbon footprint of my charter shipments?

Dashdoc now applies the ISO 14083 calculation method for your charter shipments. This calculation method will soon be available for your own shipments.

It is based on :

  • the vehicle emission coefficient requested from your service provider

  • the weight of the goods in kg

  • the estimated distance of the transport mission

Carbon footprint = weight of goods transported x estimated km x emission rate (set beforehand)

In order for Dashdoc to calculate the carbon footprint of your chartered shipments, you must ensure the following 3 points:

  1. that the weight of the goods in your order is expressed in Kg

  2. That the quality of your order entry allows you to obtain an estimated distance (e.g.: pick-up and delivery addresses are official addresses)

  3. For each chartered order, make sure that a requested vehicle type has been selected when creating your order, and that your requested vehicles are set up in your fleet 🆕

Thanks to this field, Dashdoc will apply the emission rate associated with the type of vehicle requested in question.

How to set up your requested vehicles?

  1. Go to the "My Fleet" > "My Equipment" tab

  2. Click on the "Requested vehicles" tab

  3. set up your existing requested vehicles or create new ones

  4. Enter the emission coefficient associated with the requested vehicle

    2 sources are possible:

    • use the ADEME list (available in Base Carbone), which references the different emission coefficients by vehicle category

    • Manually enter an emission coefficient for the requested vehicle, calculated by you.

I've updated the type of vehicle requested on a shipment. Does Dashdoc recalculate the carbon footprint? Yes

My charterer uses Dashdoc TMS and tells me he has set his emission rates. Which calculation prevails? The charterer's emission coefficient.

You don't use the TMS Dashdoc yet and would like to know more about our solution :
