Do you need to measure the CO2 emissions of your transport operations ?
More and more customers are asking you about the carbon footprint of their orders?
Dashdoc helps you to easily produce an ISO 14083 standardised CO2 calculation
🌱 Communicate your carbon footprint easily and accurately to all your customers:
📊 Via Dashdoc exports and reports
🧾 By affixing it directly to your invoices
📖 What information is needed to calculate the carbon footprint ?
✅ The emission rate of the carrier providing the transport. This is configured in your Dashdoc settings. Explanation in step 1 below
✅ The estimated distance (calculated automatically by Dashdoc)
In the ISO standard, only the estimated distance counts. The actual distance recoverable by your telematics system is not taken into account in this calculation.
The standard takes into account the actual consumption of vehicles via the emission rate, which is more accurate because it includes empty kilometres.
☝️ Make sure that the addresses are entered correctly.
✅ The weight of the goods being transported, to be entered in your transport order in Kg.
⚙️ Configure your carbon footprint by following these 4 steps:
Step 1: Setting a default emission rate
From the ‘Settings > Carbon footprint’ tab. Click on the default emission rate to be updated
Define a reference period on which to base the calculation of your emission rate (e.g. last quarter)
☝️ The standard requires this reference period to be less than or equal to 1 year. However, we recommend that you select a shorter period (e.g. last quarter or half-year).
Dashdoc will then automatically calculate the tonne-kilometres of your transport for this reference period (ps: if you are new to Dashdoc, you can enter the tonne-kilometres of your activity manually).
Enter the total primary energy consumption over the defined period (e.g. the last quarter). You can use the TICPE statements as a basis for updating this information!
🚛 If your fleet consumes different types of fuel, you can add different types of primary energy
In the next step, Dashdoc displays the new rate calculated and the transport period over which it will be applied
Example: if the reference period is 3 months, the application period proposed by Dashdoc will be the next 3 months.
Once the period has expired the rate will be out of date, you will need to come and update the rate with your latest consumption for the previous three months (see step 3).
Step 2: Applying this rate to your transport
You have successfully completed the first step and have just created your emission rate 💪
Once the emission rate has been created and the application period selected, the new emission rate will apply to each new transport. For transports already created an update is required.
To do this, select the transports you wish to update and click on "More actions > Update carbon footprint calculation" :
Step 3: Rate update
Depending on the reference period you have entered, you will need to update your emission rate every quarter, half-year or year. To do this, go back to your Dashdoc settings, to "Carbon footprint" and then click on your default rate:
Choose a new reference period with the same frequency (quarter, half-year, etc.) as the previous one. Fill in your total consumption and your application period again, and you're done!
Step 4: Sharing CO2 information with your customers
Via data export:
Do you need to export advanced information relating to the calculation of the carbon footprint of transport carried out across your entire business or for a dedicated customer? Here are the steps:
Filter the transports that interest you
Export by selecting either :
the default "carbon footprint" export by transport
the default "carbon footprint" export detailed by transport stage
"Add a custom export of the "carbon footprint" type and create the export that best suits your needs, with the columns you want in the order you want them.
By displaying it on your invoices
You can display the carbon footprint of your transport directly on your Dashdoc invoices. To do this, open the details of an invoice and click on "Customize" :
