The DeCA (Electronic Administrative Control Document) is mandatory in Spain for the transportation of goods by national road starting October 5, 2026. Here, we answer the most frequently asked questions.
What is the DeCA?
It is a digital administrative control document, distinct from the bill of lading / eCMR. It is generated by Dashdoc from the transport data and includes:
the contractual shipper and the actual carrier (company + NIF)
the origin and destination
the goods
the date of transport
the vehicle's license plates
a QR code that allows its verification during a road check.
Does not require a signature (it is not a validity requirement) and does not replace the bill of lading / eCMR, which remains the contractual document.
When is it mandatory?
Only for domestic transports in Spain (pickup and delivery in Spain). A transport crossing the Spanish border does not require a DeCA.

How does it work if the transport is subcontracted?
Dashdoc creates the DeCA directly in the child transport (the subcontracted segment), so it is immediately available for both the contractual shipper (the company that receives and subcontracts the order) and the actual carrier (the one who physically executes it).
Who indicates the vehicle's license plate?
The actual carrier is responsible for the license plate (as well as the date and special circumstances), while the contractual shipper is responsible for the parties/NIF, origin/destination, and the goods.
In practice: the contractual shipper creates the DeCA without a license plate, and the actual carrier adds it later, either directly in Dashdoc (from their own account or an invited account), or by generating their own DeCA from their system.
How many DeCA do I need if there are multiple delivery points?
One per delivery: a DeCA can only have one pickup point and one delivery point. If there are multiple deliveries, a DeCA is needed for each one.
Can we use our own DeCA template?
No. Dashdoc only generates its standard DeCA template (a PDF without structured data format), so it is not possible to integrate specific client templates.
